VDI - Verify Data Integrity
The VDI feature was written to do a couple of important maintenance issues. PCLaw data files are all indexed, sometimes the indexes can become skewed, re-indexing the files will optimize the database so it is a good practice to do this perhaps every six months. PCLaw also has tables that contain summary information such as current A/R, WIP and Bank Balances by matter or by journal that optimize report and navigational speed of PCLaw®(for example, the matter information you see upon entering a matter number). On occasion, these tables become incorrect and the VDI will recalibrate these values. (This can be done on its own without re-indexing by clicking on the reset Matter Balances button). Please Note , if you are using the SQL version the inly re-index that is required is the Global Search Index. Reset Matter Balances also applies to the SQL version. Another feature built into VDI is the Network Analyzer. Please click here the learn more about this option. In some instances the VDI process can take a very long time, if your network administrator can configure and option for you to RDP into the server that will optimize the process, run it from the file server itself.
